About Founder's Math

Founder's Math is a mental math trainer for everyday life and work. It teaches you to count in your head, starting with prices, bills and tips, and going all the way to the numbers you argue about at work.

The short version

Mental math is not a talent. It is a skill you build, and it is available to everyone. That one sentence is the reason this app exists.

Why this exists

Hey, I'm Valentin. I've always wanted to be absolutely confident with numbers. I get a wow effect from people who multiply big numbers in their head and don't freeze in a meeting or at a checkout. They're good with proportions, they tend to be financially successful, and they're always up for working something out.

I spent the last few years building AI products for other people: legal AI, patent tools, credit scoring. Real products with real customers. But whether they lived was never my decision. So now I build my own, and I want to become the person I used to be impressed by.

How the app teaches

Not the way school did it. Every technique is shown once, on a real example, so you see why it works. After that you just use it, until it becomes automatic.

The longer answer to what mental arithmetic is and how adults train it lives on its own page.

The app starts where you are. On the first day it picks your level and your pace, and the tasks come in the language of your life: shopping and bills, or deals and margins, depending on what you actually deal with.

It works quietly, through a cumulative effect. If numbers aren't your thing, you get comfortable with everyday ones: prices, rates, tips. If you're an analyst, a finance person or a founder, you stop reaching for your phone every time you need to multiply two two-digit numbers.

Heron

Heron is the coach inside the app. He goes at your pace and never makes you feel stupid about a wrong answer. He shows the technique, and he writes the blog.

Where it is now

The app is coming to iOS, and the waitlist is open on the home page. Until then the blog publishes puzzles, paradoxes and the arguments the internet can't settle. Everything there is written to be checked: the sources are linked and the reasoning stays on the page.

Who is behind it

Founder's Math is built by one person, working out of Canggu, Bali: the app, the content, the site and the video. Something new ships every week. The company is also on LinkedIn.
